Fitness Fashion Rules?

• October 21, 2011

The fitness world has been bombarded with Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to sports-wear.  There are scandals at the tennis court every time the William sisters show up for a tournament.  It seams like there are fitness-fashion rules that you must follow otherwise you will be in for some real life drama.

This time it was the Affitnity One shoulder Sports Bra that was in the middle of the scandal.  New York running enthusiast Megan wore the controversial sports bra to a 14-mile run.  It appears that other runners did not appreciate her “sports bra choice”.

After blogging about her #Team Vodka Heist 14.1 mile relay run, she was overwhelmed by comments regarding her running in the bra. Over 160 combined comments later, the responses vary from “You go girl! Runners can be sexy too!” to “How do you expect to be taken seriously when you’re dressed like a fool?!”

This is a quote from Megan’s Blog.  “Just because I’m trying to have a little fun with my attire, doesn’t mean I’m not taking running seriously.  Like I said, this bra held up for 14 miles (no chafing or bounce!), but I’m an A cup. If you’re a little more well-endowed, you may want to save the bra for low-impact activities, like yoga”….

I find this story amusing since sports-wear has changed so much in the last few years.  The question remains to be…are there fashion Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to athletic apparel for certain sports? I’d love to hear your opinion!
